This week i have participated in the presentation of the second group of students:
Tue 13th Feb. (Lucy, Tara, Birgitt, Claudia)
Tue 20th Feb. (Paul, Jess, John, Chris)
Tue 27th Feb. (Susan Weir, Angelina, Deo, Anthos)
Tue 6th March (Gary, Sean, Susan Wishart, Christos)
I have raissed some questions to each one concerning their projects.I am still working on my presentation because i want to present an easy to follow piece for my peers. I changed my mind on presenting my project with lip-synch of my 3d avatar in second life. This can be studied along the course and not for this presentation. It’s a field that needs much more research.
Programs such as crazy talk and daz mimic were investigated but finally i didn’t like the final result so i decided to stop the research investigating this prospect at least at the moment.
Below there are two images with these attempts:

This and previous week i was working mainly on a design for an advertisement of the college i am teaching. I have been working in photoshop and the result is the following image 94×126cm. It was a good design practice in photoshop using mainly gradient, Pen tool and brushes.

I will be practisibg Byzantine Art but not on wood icons at the moment. They will be digital creations which will be used for my second life church on the templo. The Byzantine icon of my name Saint Chrysanthos shown below could be one example. This icon was given to me as a present a month ago.

Looking the two images we see a great difference on the theme but there is also an evident simillarity. They are both illustrations with a style not faithfull to realism. The latter is a sacred illustration.
I have also participated in the weekly chat with my peers when the first group of students presented their projects:
Tue 13th Feb. (Lucy, Tara, Birgitt, Claudia)
Tue 20th Feb. (Paul, Jess, John, Chris)
Tue 27th Feb. (Susan Weir, Angelina, Deo, Anthos)
Tue 6th March (Gary, Sean, Susan Wishart, Christos)
I have raised some questions to them concerning their projects. It’s very interesting to check their way of study since each one can learn from each other. Each students work is unique and i hope i can see their progress along the course.

This week involved researching on ways of presenting my presentation. One interesting way is using a 3D model, the same that can be used as my second life avatar http://secondlife.com/community/avatar.php.
This model could be textured using my face photograph, front and side as textures like following photo. The manipulation can be used in Poser- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poser. Poser is another program that i can utilize for my project. I am very interested in figurative art, and with poser i can acheive 3d poses and animation. I haven’t tried animation in Poser but it can be proved usefull. Poser can be integrated with Vue and models be imported in Vue http://www.e-onsoftware.com/

For the presentation i could use a model textured with my face and speaking with lipsunch animation. Is lipsynch an easy procedure in animation. Actually not but using mimic can be an easy process – http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/mimic/-/?.
Recording an own speech with mimic is possible to create the facial animation in Poser easily. I can present my project with my virual self.Because of luck of time and my brothers computer weekness i may not acheive this outcome but the whole thought can be utilized in another part of my project.
My presentation was set with Jessica help on 27 of february.
Visiting the village Lefkara i found another old church of Saint Raphael. Saint Raphael is a “new” saint but this church is very old. I couldn’t ask for more information. I hope i can investigate the story for this church soon.

A texture of the chapel can be used for texturing the virual chapel in second life.

or a texture from the chapel of Saint Raphael in Agioi of Trimithia.
